The ternary layered compound Max phase is a new type of ceramic functional material. It is a hexagonal layered structure in micro structure, which consists of MX layer and a atom layer alternately arranged. These ceramics contain more than 60 kinds of ternary carbides or nitrides. M represents the metal element in the front of the transition family; a for the main family element; and X for the carbon or nitrogen element. Transition metal carbides and nitrides are known as mxones. Mxenes are a kind of layered solid, such as Ti2AlC, Ti3AlC2 and Ta4AlC3, which are connected by selective etching of a max phase with metal conductivity of an element, connected by strong solid metal bonds, ion bonds and covalent bonds. The metal conductivity is terminated by mxones combined with hydroxyl and oxygen on the surface of transition metal carbide. In essence, it is "conductive. Our company independently develops and prepares mo3alc2, in which the purity of mo3alc2 (312 structure) is more than 98%. The main difference between 211, 312 and 413 phases is the number of M atoms between each a atom layer in the crystal. MX is bound by strong covalent bond, and weak covalent bond is used between MX lamellae and a plane, which makes atom a easy to get rid of the binding of MX lamellae. This unique chemical bond property gives Max phase excellent performance. With the increase of MX layer thickness, the performance is close to the corresponding M-X binary carbide. The max phase performance can be improved by adjusting the thickness of MX lamellae.
