performance
Titanium carbide (Ti3SiC2) is a kind of ternary Machinable cermet material. Its crystal structure contains three kinds of chemical bonds: covalent bond, ionic bond and metal bond. The special valence bond structure endows Ti3SiC2 with dual excellent characteristics of metal and ceramic materials, making it a new generation of structural functional materials. Titanium silicon carbide has excellent properties of ceramics, high yield strength, high melting point, high thermal stability and high temperature strength, as well as good oxidation resistance, thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance. At the same time, it has the properties of metal. It has high thermal conductivity and conductivity at room temperature. It can be machined with high-speed steel tools like metal. It has good plasticity at high temperature, lower friction coefficient and better self-lubricating performance than graphite.
Max phase products, especially titanium carbide (Ti3SiC2), have a series of characteristics such as high damage tolerance, good mechanical and thermal properties, which make it possible to be used in the fourth generation nuclear reactor as the cladding material of nuclear fuel in gas cooled fast reactor. In recent years, the ability of titanium silicon carbide (Ti3SiC2) to resist radiation damage has attracted more and more attention.
application
Because of its lower friction coefficient and better self-lubricating performance than graphite and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), it can be used in sliding parts of mechanical industry, such as sliding ring, bearing bush, self-lubricating bearing and high-temperature bearing used in oxidation atmosphere.
1. Titanium carbide can be used for sliding electrical contact parts in mechanical and electrical engineering, such as pantograph slide plate, electrode, brush material, commutator of micro motor, electrical contact, etc.
2. Titanium carbide can be used in electronic industry, as electronic packaging radiator, lead frame and so on
3. Continuous casting mold in titanium carbide silicon metallurgical industry.
